If you like your road races to be cheap, low key, easily
accessible and providing a fast course then pencil the
BURTONWOOD 5 in for next year. Others were
attracted to the venue, 2 miles north off the M62 near Warrington,
by the 4 p.m. start, leaving Sunday free for a long run; others
simply by the lure of the free post race burger.
Boston U.S. based harrier MARTIN TIGHE
recovered extremely well from his M50 victory in
the 2nd sizzler (17.19) less than 48 hours earlier to
record another category win. Again it was a very close run
thing as his margin of victory was just one second as it was on the
previous Thursday. 9th place overall in
28.49
Yorkshire based TERRY LONERGAN'S journey
to the windswept plains of Cheshire also proved successful with his
M60 category win. 57th overall in
34.04. A repeat of his time in May's Sale
5 but a better effort considering the strong gusting winds
evident in the 2nd and 4th mile of the 2 lap
course.
To complete a trio of first places , HANNAH
TIGHE, was credited with first "Secondary girl" (?)
in 41.55.
