KATIE BYERS COMPETES IN YOUTH OLYMPICS

Young, 16-year old Katie Byers, Britain's U/17 No.1 pole vault sensation is currently competing in the first Youth Olympics in Singapore. Her father, Andy writes from the opening ceremony," What a night last night at the opening ceremony was. Fantastic! Amazing! Unbelievable! 27000 watching in Marina Bay, with the fireworks and dancers against a backdrop of the Singapore Bay, and 2 billion watching on TV. Quite an event! The event is covered 24/7 in Singapore but the BBC is broadcasting rolling highlights on BBC Red Button, updated twice daily at 0800 and 1500. These highlights are also available on BBC iPlayer. There will be 2 network programmes on Saturday 21st August at 1350 on BBC ONE and on Sunday 29th August at 1130 on BBC TWO.  In addition BBC News Channel and BBC Sport websites are covering all of the big stories from the Games.
