Congratulations to Gaz Raven who represented GB & NI for the second consecutive year in the 9th European Mountain Running Championships in Bulgaria. He finished a creditable 25th and was the second Brit across the finish line. He qualified by his top position in the qualifying competition at Latrigg in the Lake District and finishing 4th at the inter-county Fell championships inn Wales.

Tim Kennedy recorded his latest PB in June's Potteries Arf Marathon - 77 min 22s!Although he was 6th overall, he was 4th Senior Man and won £50 of Asics vouchers. It was a PB by ninety seconds, but "I swear it must one of the toughest hilliest courses around" he said. Two long incredibly steep hills at 4.5 miles and 11 miles and loads of others through the race meant his time must be worth 2/3 minutes faster on a "flat"course!

Meanwhile ultra-distance maestro Tim Rainey scraped a pb by 20 seconds in The Boddington 50k crossing the line in 3 hours 54 minutes 38 seconds. He also finished 19th of 49 runners and 3rd vet. Twenty three of those went on to complete the full 100km. "It's just a warm-up for running twice as fast in September" he said.In June Steffan Schunacher finished 3rd MV50 ina 11k in Berlin whilst attending a conference.

The Manchester 10k from sportscity produced some great results. Paul Capey was first Sale Harrier home in 36:23 closely followed by rival from Morris's thursday night track session Andy Mooney with 36:29. Carl Barber continues to improve with 39:16. Also ran well were Alan Pitman 39:40, Paul McNamara 42:34,James Wright 42:16,Cara Kavanagh 43:03 and Geoff Beattie 45:14.

Jim Lambe ran Liverpool's Penny Lane Striders 10k as a "tune up" race for the Heleniski Marathon. In good shape, his pace was a bit ambitious but was pleased to record 42:51. He's now confident of breaking 40 minutes.

Jan Nichols won first L40 in Alderley Edge's Wizard '5' This was a tough course accross fields and tracks with many stiles to jump and cows and sheep to avoid. Also took part was Carl Barber, Frank Cordingley, Geoff Beattie, Mike Wharton and Derek Nichols.
