Whilst Sale Harrier athletes and teams have been doing very
well, the club's technical officials have also been recognised by
selection for major national events.
Sale Harrier's club Secretary Carol Brown, has
been selected for two televised events 1) as a track umpire at the
Aviva International in Kelvin Hall, Glasgow on the 28th January and
2) as a track umpire at the Aviva Indoor Grand Prix at the National
Indoor Arena, Birmingham on the 18th February. She was also
appointed to the International Officials Group this year.
Two other club officials, Alison Smythe and
Alison Birch have also been appointed to the UKA
Age Group Combined Events in Sheffield on the 3/4 March as
Timekeeper and Field Judge respectively.
Club Chairman David Brown CBE has been appointed
as Chief Starter at the same Aviva Indoor Grand Prix in Birmingham
as his wife Carol. He's also been appointed Meeting Manager for the
Indoor City Challenge in Sheffield on the 4th February and starter
for the National Cross Country at Parliament Hill, London, the most
prestigious cross-country Championship in the domestic calendar.
David has also recently attained his Level 4 qualification in event
management.
Fingers crossed for some of these officials who are awaiting
confirmation of important Olympic selections with substantial roles
to play at both the Olympic and Paralympic Games later this
year.
