The Principality proves to be a great
success for the Harriers
Sale Harriers broke with tradition and headed west
rather than north for their bi annual training weekend. The Cwm
Pennant valley in west Wales, just north of Porthmaddog was the
venue for, what is now the tenth training
weekend.
A new venue brought new adventures, which this year
included; a trip to the sunny seaside for a leg sapping beach
session and relays on Harlech beach, gorge walking, morning runs
running through boggy cow chasing fields, mysterious runs through
misty disused slate mines and a real ale dash through
Porthmaddog.
Highlights from the weekend included the amazing
food which powered all 40 odd athletes which just hit the nail on
the head, particularly the sticky toffee pudding with custard on
the Saturday night. Andy Moony loosing his shoes in muddy bogs, not
just once, but repeating his performance the following day, much to
the delight of everyone else. The premier of the Welsh Castles DVD
(thanks to Jason) on the Friday evening and the domination of two
Germans at table tennis!
The new venue was great too, and we must take our
collective harrier hat off to our hosts (Paul and Lynda) who really
pulled out all the stops to accommodate us. The food was excellent,
the hostel was well presented and very comfortable, and the
coordination in sorting out transport was grateful. We'll defiantly
be returning there in the future.
