The second club promoted indoor meeting at Sportcity at the
weekend was another successful day, with a fine entry and good
athletics.
Nyef Abed led the sprinters with a 6.93sec
clocking. Allyn Condon 7.28secs slow by his
standards, but nevertheless our Olympian was a most welcome
participant. Kevin Metzger (U/15) flew to a Pb of
8.04secs and Kelly Chadwick (U/13) registered a Pb
of 8.40secs.
Jennifer Simmons graced the 400 metres with a
new pb of 57.21 secs. Race of the day was the 600m, won by
Richard Yates in 79.20secs. Clovis Asong
was 3rd with a pb of 79.91secs, and Josh
Oguntayo was just a shade off his best clocking 80.74secs.
A really cracking race led by Clovis with Yates and Sam Dykes only
out strenghening Clovis over the last 20 metres.
Tyra Watson flowed round in 97.93secs and
Remelo Edwards (U/17) ran 91.33secs for a new pb.
The Pole Vault featured Matt Cullen clearing 4m
55cms, then narrowly missing 4m 80cm. Spectators were treated to
the sight of Luke Cutts ( Dearnside ALC)
attempting 5m 50cms - an awesome sight indeed. Welcome pbs from
Alex Wort 4m 10cm and David
Campbell 3m 65cm, backed up by Jacob
Sutcliffe's 3m 50cm. Lloyd
Robbins (U/17) impressed with a 6m 47cm long jump and
Darren Hammond mixed his 1m 95cm High Jump victory
with a 6m 06cm long jump. Both Chris Rushton (5m
85cm) and Kelly Chadwick ( 4m 70cm) enjoyed pbs.
The Shot saw Joshua Booth (U/17) 10m
29cms, Lydia Randles (8m 38cm) and Amy
Williams (U/15) 8m 58cm all performing well.
