MACCL League Concludes
The final of the five matches in the Manchester Area Cross-Country League took place at Clayton Vale last weekend. Most elder statesmen and women of the running confraternity had to scratch their heads to recall the last time a Manchester League match was hosted on this course and most agreed that, despite an undulating course with some eye-watering descents, it was a great course and one worth repeating.
A full review of the season and this league will appear in the March/April Harrier magazine. Meanwhile, content yourselves with the following pieces of good news - mere appetisers to the fuller reports later.
In the younger age-groups, Sale were probably the most successful club in the league in consistently turning out teams in all eight age-groups and at Woodbank Park were so dominant, our U/13 boys teams finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd and won all five matches. Our younger teams recorded victories in the U/11 girls and U/13 and U/17 boys; runners-up in the U/15 & U/17 girls and 3rd in the U/13 girls. Congratulations to all the boys and girls involved.
Among the senior ranks, the senior men finished runners up to Trafford AC and our women were a very solid 3rd overall. Other results areas yet unofficial so fingers crossed especially that the women's 'B' team achieved their season's objective of promotion to Division 1. Official Veteran team results are still unknown!
