SALE HARRIERS ON RADIO & TV
Frank & Jackie Cordingley brilliantly flew the club flag in the very early hours of Saturday April 22 when, between 2 - 4.00am they were part of a Radio 5 Live talk-in show hours before the London Marathon began. They represented the world of club level marathon running and showed great expertise. Pictured with top radio presenter Dotun Adebayo who made Frank and Jackie very welcome and were joined by Mara Yamauchi top marathon runner and potential Olympian. Frank continued his marathon experience with a 3:43 at The Manchester Marathon in Trafford this weekend.
Two top club coaches, Keith Hunter (triple jump) and Roger Devlin (sprint Hurdles) accepted a challenge from the producers of the Blue Peter Roadshow to coach six celebrities in these events culminating in a sprint hurdle race and triple jump competition. Ross McCormick was one of Roger's demonstrator hurdlers and you can see the 60m hurdle race on BBC2 at 9am on Saturday 26th May. Keith Hunter's session had Atholla Rose acting as his demonstrator, and that result will be screened on BBC2 at 9am on Saturday 9th June. All four were also awarded their very own Blue Peter badges!
A week later did you see on the BBC regional news a group of Sale Harriers, looking very impressive in club kit, assisting Jessica Ennis in a promotional display in Manchester's Arndale Centre. Our top jumper Ahtollah Rose was also interviewed and spoke so very well indeed.
Whilst not a Sale Harrier, Britain's No1 1500m specialist Tom Lancashire who is coached by club coach Norman Poole at the Wythenshawe track, is making a high profile re-appearance on Sky Sport 4's The British miler series which is already running. The documentary follows seven athletes hoping to represent Britain in the 1500m at the Olympics.
