Five Confirmed For Olympics
Four Sale Harriers are among the 78 track and field athletes
chosen by the British Olympic Association for the London 2012
Olympic Games and others are selected for their own nations.
Stuart Stokes (3000m steeplechase) Stuart has been
Britain's No 1 or 2 ranking steeplechaser for more than a decade.
Among the highpoints of an athletic career that spans almost twenty
years. Stuart has represented his country at the last three
Commonweakth Games (Delhi, Melbourne and Manchester). He was
controversially left out of the GB squad for the Beijing Olympics
so this will be a fine pinnacle to his athletic career.
Andy Turner (110m Hurdles) needs little
introduction as the Commonwealth and European Champion with a list
of National and international achievements that date back a decade.
If all goes well for Andy, he's could be among the
Alex Smith (Hammer) has been Britain's No1 hammer
thrower in every age group since 2006. Among the highlights of a
very successful career, he's the Delhi Commonwealth Games silver
medallist and also the Commonwealth Youth Games
Kate Dennison (Pole Vault). Until the emergence of
Holly Bleasdale as Britain's no1 pole vaulter,
Kate held the top spot for several years. She's improved the
British record nine times in 2009 and at the World Championships in
Berlin she finished in an excellent sixth place. In Szczecin,
Poland she took the British record to new heights again with a
clearance of 4.60m. In 2010 she finished in 6th place in the
European Championships and at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi she
finished in a disappointing bronze medal position.
Seyi Smith has been selected for Canada and as yet unconfirmed
whether he's to selected for both the individual sprint and sprint
