Juniors Into National Final
The final fixture of the Northern Premier Lea-gue of the National Junior League season was successfully contested loosing narrowly to host team Edinburgh. It confirmed Sale's passage into the National Final which will be held on Sunday Sept 9th in Derby. The club is very appreciative of all the athletes and officials that gave up a full weekend to secure this result.
The women, led by Brogan Crowley who was awarded female athlete of the match with her 14.18sec hurdle victory into a strong headwind, then followed up with good performances in the Javelin and Shot. The sprints were well looked after by Olivia Callaghan and Gabrielle George (victorious in both 100/200m 'B' events. Megan Davies had an impressive 3000m victory, and Alex Hastie was too good for the other high jumpers. Chloe Yates worked very hard in the 800/1500m races, but events were nullified by strong winds hampering all the times. Charlotte Dickinson, Jasmine Burke, Lauren Bowen and Marnie Wells-Nichols all scored massive points.
Daniel Heald's 22.10sec victory in the 200m was adjudged to be the male athlete of the match, defeating Liverpool's Tom Boyce and Edinburgh's Tom Holligan, who had earlier edged out Roy Ejiakuekwu in the 100m. Further victories for Luke Betts (800m), Callum Greenwood (3000m), Seun Okome (HJ), Alex Wort (110mH) set the ball rolling for Denver Morrison-Massey (400m) and Ryan Moore's securing wins in their 'B' events. Alex contributed greatly in 3 other events (PV,Jav,Shot) as did Jack Sheldon ( Jav,Discus,Hammer) and Joshua Booth (Hammer,Shot and Discus)
