UKA Fell Championships
Races can vary on a significant number of factors, including severity, competition and terrain. However there was no variation when it came to this years UKA Fell and Hill championships, as every factor could be summerised as EPIC.
Sale took three teams to this year's Fell Champs, held in Church Stretton in the Shropshire hills on a beautiful autumnal day. The relays are a combination of four legs, first and last are flagged solo legs, the second is a flagged pairs run and the third is a pairs navigation run.
Mens A team finished 65th, with top performers going to the duo of Steve McCarron/Chris Donnelly and team Barber-Ashby who glided around the course 44th position. Men's B finished 90th, with Elton Davies having a stormer, even beating the A team on the first leg. It was also refreshing to see Jason Bowers back in a vest. The ladies, finished 24th ladies team. All six of them did really well. jenny Clink began the ball rolling who passed it onto the dynamic duo of Hayley Cavill and Jan Nicholds. The navigation leg was undertaken by Helen Armitage and Lou Robbins with the team being completed by Kimberly Wilson.
Even though Sale is not the best conducive environment to regually train on for these types of races, we all put 100% in and had a great day out. To finish the day off, we all headed to the pub for a few swift ones before heading back to Manchester.
