National Combined Events U15
TWO PROMISING PENTATHLETE STARS
The two youngest members of Chris Bartram's Sale group performed in the National Combined Event under 15 Championships in Sheffield at the weekend. Grace Boyer and Megan McHugh only recently joined Sale and completed their first ever pentathlon. The 1st event was the 60mtre hurdles and Grace achieved a fantastic 4/10ths PB. In the 2nd event long jump, it was Megan's turn to do a big PB. The shot putt saw both girls do two new PB's each. Megan improved from 6.69cms to a fantastic7.42cms and Grace from 7.09cms to 7.45cms. The high jump meant more PB's -1.35 to 1.36cms and magnificent improvement from 1.37 to 1.42cms for Megan. The final event 800m is every girl's favourite, particularly after 4 gruelling events. Both girls finished 2nd in their heat. Thirteen year old Grace finished 9th out of the top 40 competitors in the country. She also finished 3rd in the North and 2nd in the North West with 5 PB's. Twelve year old Megan finished 14th and 3rd in the North West and had 7 PB's. Two athletes of the future proved that Combined Events is in good hands.
