Over The Bales
On a freezing day at Crossford Bridge, over 100 young Sale Harriers represented the club with considerable success. The course was flat and firm but, with a hay bale to hurdle every 100m, it was difficult to get into a steady rhythm.
Ruby Bell won the U9 girl's race from Leah Wilkinson and with Isobelle Burk 5th, ensured team victory. Sale also had the next two teams with team counters Cara Cunningham, Annie Gavin, Sosija Dragisic Wood, Isobel Lamb, Charlotte Burns and Darcy Mc Cann. The under 9 boys were also clear winners with Thomas Boyd 3rd, Ben Wilson 5th, and Harvey Devenport 11th with a team of Nathan Harrop, Luca Davis and Oliver Rose in third place
Sale finished an incredible nine teams in the U11 girls race with Beth Thornton, Lizzie Twite and Tia-Rae Barton finishing 2nd behind Liverpool while Alice Gale , Lauren Smith and Tess Mc Hugh finished 3rd out of 18 teams . The under 11 boys team of Bailey Hulse, Alex Kelly and John Gilbert finished 3rd behind Leigh Harriers and Manchester Harriers.
Luke Chesters won the under 13 boys race with Harry Boyd 3rd and Alexander Newman finished 7th to ensure team victory whilst a team of Cameron Buchan , Joseph Doyle and Colin Avison finished 2nd. Ellie Twite finished runner-up in the U13 girls race and with Frankie Davis and Mairead Power finished 2nd team behind Liverpool.. Sale also finished 3rd team with Leah Rimmington, Lia Sendwick and Chloe Taylor
Over the six races Sale finished teams in the first three places. Well done to all concerned and thanks to the Crossford Bridge staff who organised a most successful and popular annual home promotion
