Relay Teams Win Match For Sale
Sale remain undefeated in the U13/U15 Northern YDL League with the match at Preston at the weekend decided on the last two events in which the boys won both the U15 relays. As a result of three victories in the three matches so far they're well set to retain the Northern title and to qualify for the National Finals in September.
The U15 boys were the club's dominant squad with Jona Ofoloku, Anthony Bruton, Kieran Donnely, James Ratcliffe, Kemar Thompson, Will Scohfield, Jamal Brown, Rory Canham and Jake Spilsbury winning their events whilst Adam Kinghorn, Dillon Birchill, Darnell Bell, Adam Spilsbury and Matthew Smith also finished in medal positions. In the U15 girl's events, victories went to Annie Williams, Zenni Enechi, Kelly Chadwick, Georgina Alexander and Sophie Ullah whilst Ellie Twite finished runners-up in a season's best and Emma Lowe performed well in the throws.
In the U13 girl's events, Harriet Leah ran PB's in both sprints and teamed up with Tia Blissett, Lizzie Twite and Verity Garnes to finish runners-up in the relay. Lizzie and Tia along with Niamh Nugent and Bethany Thornton were dominant in the middle distance events. In the boy's events Dane Winchcole made an impressive debut for Sale winning both sprint events and teaming up with Rhys Parker, Luke Chesters and Connor Patterson for a clear win in the relay. Harry Boyd won his race whilst Tom Barrett finished 3rd in his club debut. Nathan Booth, Ben Worthington and Euan Murphy scored well in the throwing events whilst Michael Odejimi and Femi Okomo were impressive in the high jump.
As ever, many thanks to the team managers, officials, parents who contribute so much to the success of these youngsters. Onwards to the next and final match at Gateshead on July 13th (Produced by Peter Shaw and Fechin mc Cormick. photos courtesy of Carl Worthington)
