A GOOD TUNE-UP IN COUNTY RELAYS
Sale Harriers achieved their best ever result in the Cheshire Track Relays held in Macclesfield at the weekend, contesting five age-groups, winning four whilst losing the fifth by a whisker. The U11 boys sprint relay team of Rory Kinrade, Sam Worthington, Kane Saville and Sam Brown got the day off to a brilliant start with a comfortable victory.
Our U15 boy’s relay team of Connor Patterson, Dave Winchcole, Finn Mc Ewan-Patterson and Rhys Parker finished runners-up to a strong Crewe team but had the consolation of running a season’s best time of 53.5.
TheU13 girl’s team of Harriet Leah, Ellie Jackson, Tia Blissett and Lizzie Twite stormed to a clear win but know they will have to go even faster next week when they meet the best teams in the country in the National YDL Finals.
The U15 medley relays team had Zenni Enechi and Georgina Alexander sprinting 100m followed by Maria Mc Pollin covering 200m with Ellie Twite’s final long 600m leg. Ellie had a superb run not only overtaking the two girls ahead of her but also catching all but one of the boy’s team to clinch the county title.
A brilliant day for the club was completed with victory in the U17 ladies sprint relay in a super fast time of 50.7 seconds. Well done to Kate Hill, Charlotte Worthington, Maria Mc Pollin and Taylor Saville.
Congratulations to sprint relay coach Carl Worthington. Our team performances suggest we are ready to represent the North of England against the best teams from Scotland, England, Ireland and Wales in the National Young Athletes Final in Birmingham next weekend
