THE CHESHIRE 10K 2014
The Cheshire 10k near Arley Hall offers one of the fastest 10k road races in the north. Racing around the flat and rural roads of Antrobus this UKA licensed official 10k road race offers the perfect opportunity for runners of all abilities to get a chip timed personal best.
The race was won by Altrincham's Mohamad Abu Rezeq who led from the front and comfortably finished in 29:11. First lady home was the well known figure of Helen Clitheroe clocking 32:44, 9th overall, and 1st lady 40 too!
First home for Sale was our talented musician Tim Kennedy with 34:50, a full minute faster than he expected. Other Sale runners were; Peter O'Neil 36:09, Chris Green 37:57 (pb by over 2 minutes) and Alistair Kell who said that his time (39:01) was just a few seconds off his 5 year pb for the distance. He said "My 10k PB was the same time of year but it was at the Strathaven 10k on the outskirts of Glasgow which is notorious for being fast, and mostly down hill ! You get bussed up to the top of a moor above the village and it's basically 7k downhill, 2.5k flat and a bit of a climb to the finish !"
Steve Parry was 6th V50 with 40:13 followed by V40 Simon Bond 40:52. Nigel Fielden was our only prize winner of the day taking the V60 prize with 42:02. Dawn Holding V50 was happy with her time of 47:14 followed by our famous psychologist Geof Beattie V60 (48:20).
