The Manchester Young Athletes Quadrathlon was held at Sportcity at the weekend. This involves athletes competing in a Sprint, Middle-Distance, Long Jump and a Throw. Points are allocated for each event and then totalled to decide the final positions. The event attracted an entry of 230 athletes from 35 clubs
Sam Worthington was Sale Harriers most successful athlete finishing in silver medal position in the U13 event, having recorded PB’s in all four disciplines. Harry Boyd was another Sale athlete to record four PB’s which put him in bronze medal position in the U15 event.
The club’s most successful team was the U13 girl’s who had five athletes in the top ten out of thirty-five finishers and finished in 1st and 2nd team positions. Well done to Ayla Hewitt, Alice Dale, Scarlett Whittaker, Melissa Booth, Ella Wilson and Sofija Dragisic Wood. Revelation of the day was Ayla running the 800m in 2:35.5 which scored seventy points, the 3rd highest points score for any individual event by an U13 girl and a great performance for someone more noted as a sprinter/jumper.
Other Sale athletes to complete the full quadrathlon and compete with great credit were Isabelle Burke, Hermione Mason, Tom Boyd, Eleanor Boyd and Lewis Hindle.
