A record number of more than 1000 teams flocked to Mansfield in search of silverware and a chance to stretch their legs in a fun, team-based environment.
Our girls teams had one of their best ever championships, finishing 1st overall with the lowest team time aggregate. The 12 girls whose performances contributed to this result were the u20 team of Aimee Pratt, Cesca Brint and Juliet Downs which finished 3rd, the u17 team of Beth Thornton, Holly Jackson and Steffi Moss which finished 15th, the u15 team of Lara Crawford, Maissie Wiseman and Jess Spilsbury who finished 4th, and the u13 team of Izzy Burk, Niamh Boyd and Taylor Edwards who finished 8th. Claudia Cowan had an outstanding run for the u20 B team finishing 2nd on the first leg.
The under 20 men were 2nd Northern Club and 11th club in the English Champs, 45secs behind the medals. Adam Spilsbury, Patrick Magner and Jake Spilsbury. We had B teams in all age groups and they all ran exceptionally. Our best boys result came in the u13 boys where James Kelly, Jack Spark and Charlie Tittensor finished 10th. Our B team of Archie McCarron, Will Parker and Harry Edmundson were 3rd B team. Adam Roden had a good run in the B team, also Alex Sutton ran well, as did Dylan Stanway for Notts University. The Men's Team were not near the medals, but there were solid runs from Luke Betts, Alan White, Dave Marsh and James Wignall. Full results.
Nick Barry and Nick Tynan were first and sixth in the Through the Villages 7 in Chorley. A rolling hills road race, but Nick had a winning margin of 3 mins.

Thames Meander Footpath Marathon
Katherine Wood won the Thames Meander Footpath Marathon in 03:04:43 a PB after her 85:14 PB at the Manchester Half Marathon, so managed to maintain some pace in her legs with a few Thursday track sessions at Wythenshawe, before a short taper. This puts her 4th Under 23 for 2017.
