SALE FIVE ROAD RACE

5 Mile Road Race START : 11.00am,

Young Athletes 3K Start : 10.30am

Dear colleague

It is now close to our annual SALE FIVE, 5 mile road race and kids 3K, which is the same weekend each year, but this year on the Sunday , because the move of the Bank Holiday. As usual it is also part of the Manchester Parks Race Grand Prix, being race number 2.

We had a great volunteer response for the Manchester Marathon and also for Bupa Manchester Great Run 10K & Kids race.

So now it is your chance to help your club out, with it's own event promotion on the 27th May.

Thanks to all those who have contacted me to confirm that they are available to help in advance or on the day, whether they are racing in it or not. Any one else who I have not spoken to recently or who has not contacted me yet, could you do so now please and commit to volunteering your help.

WE DO NEED YOUR HELP. can you help on the day with any of these tasks:-

Even those of you who have entered the race/ series, can still help in advance.

RACE LEAD BIKE

Course set up, and races marshalling in the park, also marshal groups leaders.

Facility set up, and start & finish track set up.

Race entry admin, and start & finish recording & stewarding,

Car park set up & stewarding / race marshalling.

Distributing finish line water and t-shirts/ medals etc

Cake sale and drinks, also cake making.

The number of marshals shown on the map is the extreme minimum to avoid

incidents, but we really require twice the number, in the centre of the park,

especially on a sunny day, when visitors come out in numbers.

You can get to the track for briefing before 9.00am, let me know if you can.

Schedule of events:-

8.30am SET UP COURSE ( Start & finish funnels, race clock, mile markers, cones, taping &

warning signs, car park & track entrance, ,

Car Park and throws field parking stewarding, facility direction / information signs, water etc.

9.00am OPEN ENTRY AND NUMBERS DESK, direct results Service, First Aid, shop etc.

9.30am MARSHALS FINAL BRIEFING before going on to course to risk check and that all is in place.

10.15am Start / Finish Line recorders and stewards, prepare to be in place.

Start / Finish time and numbers recorders, finish funnel stewards, T-Shirts for 5 mile, finish water etc

10.30am YOUNG ATHLETES 3k START,

10.40am YA 1st finishers

11.00am 5 MILE RACE START

11.05am Young Athletes prize presentation.

11.24am 5mile 1st finishers

12.00am 5 mile prize presentation. Final dismantle, clear up then leave.

Thanks, I can only do so much on my own in advance, but now in count down to the day,

I have little time after my other activities, to do all that is best for the event, and so do need your help as much as possible, however small.

Your friends and relatives are most welcome to volunteer also, please ask them.
