The club’s world-class sprinter, Andy Robertson, announced his retirement from competitive athletics at the beginning of September following an exceptionally long 25-year career. At 35 years of age, he retires as the 2025 European Indoor 60m bronze medallist, a two-time British Champion and a Commonwealth Games medallist.

Andy joined Sale Harriers as an 11-year-old and was quite a nifty cross-country runner before turning to sprinting. He retires as one of Britain’s most successful athletes, having won a treasure trove of World, European and Commonwealth Games sprint medals, indoors and out.

Andy was awarded Sale Harriers Life Membership in 2025, not just for his very successful career but also for wearing his club vest whenever he could and always displaying the highest standards of club loyalty and service.

Sale Harriers thanks Andy for his lifelong, exemplary commitment to the club. Happy retirement, Andy! Fancy doing some coaching now?
