BOWSTONES FELL RACE – A FITTING END TO 2025
There was no better way to round off 2025 than the hugely popular Bowstones Fell Race on New Year’s Eve. With 26 Sale Harriers among the 350 finishers, this was the club’s largest-ever turnout (surpassing last year’s 24), and many of our runners were familiar, seasoned campaigners at the sharp end of the field. Inevitably, Sale Harriers once again cleaned up on the prizes……
- GEORGE NOBLE was the overall senior winner — and he’s still only U20!
- With STEVE Mc CARRON, PHIL RICHARDSON, and CHRIS DONNELLY all finishing in the top eight, Sale Harriers comfortably retained the team prize for the third consecutive year. Steve also won this race in 2023, while Phil and Chris were also key members of last year’s winning team.
- Individual age-group successes followed :
CHRIS DONNELLY retained his M45 title,
STEVE McCARRON retained his M50 title,
PAUL NOBLE claimed 1st M55, and
AIDAN RAFTERY retained his M65 title. - ROB DUNN (2nd M40) and RICHARD EDWARDS (2nd M45) also deservedly earned the traditional free bottle of beer awarded to every finisher.
- A special mention to JOHN MORRIS who buried his demons from last year’s race when he suffered a freak accident at the top of Bowstones, rupturing both kneecaps and requiring a Mountain Rescue stretcher evacuation, followed by a long spell in hospital. It’s great that John’s back fighting fit. He even ran the Valencia Half Marathon in October.
