Success

Sale Harriers are a force to behold when studying the latest track and field performance at the British Champs in Birmingham. The weather was warm and humid for the 2 days and it brought out the very best from our Sale ladies.

In no particular order we were represented by :-

Success Eduan who beat Amy Hunt to take gold in the women’s 200m. Coached by Anita Richardson Success, has beaten her previous PB by 10seconds with 22:43. An inspiration to a new generation of runners.

Lucy Armitage. A young lady who has risen from a group at Crossford Bridge into an Olympic hopeful. She made it to the women’s 800m final and came an incredible 3rd behind Georgia Hunter-Bell and Isabelle Boffey. Coached by Dave Rodgers and previously by Pete and Chris Johnson, she beat her own PB with 2:00.45.

Thea Brown. A multi-eventer coached by Ashley Bryant she has proved to be one to watch for many years. Her long jump of 6.25m put her in 7th place. The holder of 11 club records and still only 19 years old.

Tess McHugh, ran in the women’s 400m and should be incredibly proud of completing at this incredibly high level.

Melissa Booth, who was previously coached by recently honoured life member Keith Hunter, competed in the triple jump and finished 4th with 12m 58cm. Her PB remains at 12.94m.

Hannah Blood threw the hammer to 52.77m. Well done Hannah.

(I apologise profusely if I have missed anyone but rest assured we are incredibly proud of you all)

A mention must also be made of Arlo Ludewick, University of Manchester PhD student, who won the 1500m at the weekend! He had never made the final before. Whilst running in Herne Hill’s vest in the championships, he trains with Sale Harriers Manchester under the guidance of Norman Poole.
