YOUTH DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE (Lower) 2024 MATCH 1

The YDL (Lower) is a National League for U13 & U15 boys and girls and Sale took part in Match 1 at Longford Park, Stretford on the 20th April 2024. Hosted by Sale Harriers.
Northern Indoor champion THIERRY KERR had a fantastic day winning four events including the 75m Hurdles in a new club record of 10.0sec. LOUIS FOSTER-WILLETTS was another athlete who competed in the maximum four events. NOAH PHILLIPS won the 1200m with a tremendous sprint finish and was also runner-up in the high jump and long jump.
In the U13 girl's events BROOKE CARROLL-IVISON took part in four events and won all four. NORA KWARTEMAA won both sprint events by comfortable margins and teamed up with BROOKE, HOLLIE Mc HUGH and GRACE BROOMES to win the sprint relay by a margin of over four seconds. Northern Indoor Champion HOLLIE Mc HUGH set a PB to win the high jump and also finish first in her hurdles event. LUCY DOYLE and ISLA QUINN both won long jump events. A special mention to primary aged LUCY O'BRIEN who was great! She ran a PB to finish 2nd in the 800m 'A' event and also won two 'B' field events.
In the U15 boy's events DANIEL OWOSENI, DAN OAKES, DAN WELLS and OLIVER HOWELL all took part in the maximum four events with considerable success – Daniel winning the long jump and Dan Oakes the 800m. PATRICK WILEY won the pole vault. The throwers had a good day to outscore the other five clubs with ISAAC ROURKE placing 2nd in two events and ADAM CORRY-WILSON taking part in three events.
In the U15 girl's events NIELA CHUKWU won both sprint events in fast times and then teamed up with EVA ANWYL, ZURIEL SARUMI and LOIS WORMALD to win the sprint relay by two seconds. A special mention goes to Eva who took part in four events winning three of them. AVA BROOMES won her hurdles event by one second. ROXY Mc HUGH was a clear winner in the 300m whilst MADDY APPLEBY won the 'B' event. Roxy & Maddie teamed up with LOLA RICHARDSON and ROBYN HEYWOOD-YOUNG to win the 4 x 300m relay by a massive 16 seconds. Lola finished runner-up in the 800m whilst Robyn won the 'B' race by 24 seconds. CAITHLIN WETTERS returned from injury to win the 1500m whilst GRACE HILL won the 'B' race.
Sale scored 620 points to convincingly win the match by 170 points. Well done to everyone involved not least to CARL WORTHINGTON who, yet again, solo managed the team. A big thanks also to all the indispensable officials who further won the maximum 56 points towards Sale's brilliant victory.
