Calderdale Way Relay 2024
The annual relay hosted by Halifax Harriers never fails to disappoint. Basked in glorious Yorkshire sunshine, 48 runners from Sale Harriers, (4 teams) headed over the border to compete in this year's competition with the aim to defend the mixed team title and to attempt to win the vets open category (and also to have lots of fun).
Following a solid start from Steve McCarron and Paul Peters, the mixed team dominated across all legs, with Sophie and Alice bringing the team home 16 minutes ahead of their nearest rivals (Calder Valley) winning the mixed team prize in a time of 7.08.30.
The Vets team came so close to matching the mixed, with solid performances across all 6 legs, particularly from Chris Donnelly and Eddie (7th fastest on the day on leg 4), however, Calder Valley vets were just slightly stronger, beating Sale by just 3 minutes.
The Club also had two other teams in the competition; both competed well across the six legs with many new faces enjoying their first Calderdale experience.
Well done to all those who ran and supported, it was a great day out.
Overall results:
Vets: 12th (2nd vets team)
Mixed: 13th (1st Mixed)
Open A: 29th
Open B: 66th
