Summer Handicap Race 4.6Miles
The Sale Harriers Summer Handicap was a resounding success with over 50 entries running on a breezy but fine summer evening.
Thanks for the work put in from Paul Barrett, Bruce Green, Mike Wharton, Tony Lythe & Mo Jefferson in the set up and recording.
It went well and there were some good performances with the bulk of people coming in within seconds of each other.
First across the line, Colin Hill, was embarrassed to have a big lead and so much off his handicap time, so he eased back before the end.
Fastest overall Mike Kilmartin went out hard in the first mile just out side 5m/ml pace and settled into 5.15m/ml,but obviously the styals, gates and bridges slowed the overall pace / time.
Jess Riley was fastest Lady, and was comfortably inside 7m/ml pace, but is only just starting to train consistently again,so not fit at the moment, but should be top 6 in the Manchester XC league races and I believe pushing towards 37mins 10K by spring 2012.
Gary Rowlinson and Louise Robbins were fastest vets, with Callum Rowlinson fastest of the Juniors.
Terry Lonergan supplied the majority of prizes, I added some more and Steffan North also donated some.We should have in December a winter handicap, either midweek on road or weekend on hill trail.
