Medals Galore In Schools Races
With no club fixture last weekend, our youngsters were able to focus on a range of schools cross- country events in which they had considerable success.
Zara Thompson finished runner up in the National Independent Schools Championships whilst Luke Chesters and Claudia Cowan were also runners up in the Northern Schools Championships at Longford Park where Loreto Grammar won the girls championships with Claudia, Mairead Power and Ciara O'Neill all contributing to a comfortable team victory.
Cara Cunningham won the Trafford Catholic Schools event whilst Tess Mc Hugh and Charlie Hobson were clear winners in the Tameside Schools Primary championships whilst next day Charlie also won the NW biathlon (run and swim) championships.
At Crossford Bridge we held the final of the SHM Primary schools XC League. Lizzie Twite was a clear winner in the girls event from Alice Dale with Jess Mc Dowell 3rd. Jess was overall league champions with Laura Hole 2nd, and Jessica Spilsbury and Simisola Joseph equal 3rd. The girl's team championship went to Bowden Church School with Stamford Park 2nd and Well Green 3rd
Cameron Davis out sprinted Edward Layfield to win the boys event, with Bailey Hulse in 3rd place. In the overall league championship, Cameron, Edward and Bailey were again top three finishers whilst Bowden Church were again the dominant school with their A and B team finishing 1st and 2nd overall from Elmridge Primary in 3rd
Congratulations to Ann and Graham Marshall and the Primary section helpers for organising this successful event.
