Youth Development League ( Upper)
Sunday was a brilliant day for the 2nd fixture in the Upper age group of the Development League. Following a runner's up berth in the 1st match at Liverpool, team managers Karen Lannon and Danny Gray gained revenge when there charges performed excellently, with many fine individual performances. The league standings are as follows, with the 3rd fixture being in Edinburgh on July 30th.
Team Edinburgh 11pts
Sale Harriers 11pts
Team Glasgow 5pts.
Lisa James was outstanding in the U/20 triple jump registering 12m 25cm. Emily Cummings high jump of 1m 68cm and Sarah McKeever 3m 35cm in the pole vault; Amy Williams jumped 5.75cm in the long jump to go 2nd in the UK rankings and also triple jumped 11.94 to top the UK rankings. Alyssia Carr's 5m 53cm long jump was further indications of the high quality of athletics on display.
Not to be outdone, the boys were also magnificent. 400 runners Callum Roughneen 48.54secs, Felix Tighe (U/17) 50.57secs led the way. A tremendous javelin throw from Harry Lord (U17) of 48m 40cm, plus victories from speed merchants Roy Ejiakuekwu 21.54s 200m into a headwind, and Jack Seddon, and Nathan Harris demonstrated the sprinting prowess the club enjoys.
