JONA BREAKS CLUB RECORD
Sale’s U13 and U15 boys and girls launched the defence of the Northern Premier title with a win at Sportcity beating the best teams in the North. Star performer in the U15 age-group was Jona Efoloko who broke the club record and went top in the UK when he won the 200m in 22.3 seconds. Joe Murphy was dominant in the throws events with further victories coming from Darnell Bell, Ben Moseley, Rory Keen and Jonathan Adderley while Anthony Bruton joined Ben Darnell and Jona to win the 4 x 300m relay.
Other contributors to success in the age-group were Emmanuel Obundajo, Logan Burrows, Luke Chesters, Matthew Williams, Aiden Stirrup, Harry Boyd, Danielo Jorbath, Michael Odejimi, Femi Okome, Reece Parker, Aron Tzegay and Oliver Dean
In the girl’s event, Kelly Chadwick won a sprint double that included a 200m PB, and teamed up with Ellie Jackson, Tia Blissett and Rebecca Heys to win the sprint relay.
A further relay victory came in the 4 x 300m with Maria Mc Polin, Danielle Stringer, Ellie Twite and Grace Bower breaking the league record with a tremendous time of 2:58.5. Further victories came from Meg Mc Hugh (2 wins), Ellie Jackson, Danielle Stringer, Olivia Green, Emma Lowe and Olivia Ashworth. Further contributions to team success came from Alexa Mc Tiffin, Claudia Cowan, Niamh Nugent and Matilda Waters.
Star performer in the U13 age group was Tess Mc Hugh with victories in the long jump, javelin and 2nd in the 75m hurdles with PB’s in all three events. Further victories came from Samuel Brown, Charlie Hobson, Brogan Rudman, Sam Worthington, Laurelle Obe, Leyla Nealon, Lizzie Twite, Lois Mc Tiffin and Mea Gibbons whilst Rory Kinrade was part of the relay winning team.
Other contributors to the team victory were Charlotte Mairs, Beth Thornton, Lara Crawford, Alice Dale, Ayla Hewitt, Ella Wilson, Scarlett Whittaker, Zac Stiller, Jed Bailey, Joel Stringer Euan Murphy, Finlay Murphy, John Lewis, Kyle Nield and Matthew Heatcote.
A special mention to the large numbers of the U13 squad still at Primary School who performed with maturity beyond their years. They’re a great credit to the club and their coaches The youngsters all looked resplendent in their specially commissioned T-shirts partly sponsored by Databax, the IT Solutions Company Databax who built the club website.
