STOCKPORT QUADRATHLON & TRIATHLETICS EVENTS
The Quadrathlon at Stockport was the culmination of a series of multi-event competitions for U9/U11/U13/U15 athletes organised by Stockport Harriers.
Each athlete in a Quadrathlon must compete in a Sprint, Middle Distance Race, Long Jump and Throw. Points are allocated for each performance and totalled to decide the final position. With athletes from over 20 clubs taking part, competition was of a high standard.
The clubs most successful athlete was SAM WORTHINGTON who was so dominant in winning the U15 boy’s competition he won all four individual events (including a new competition record in the long jump of 5.52m), to set a new total points record. The U15 girl’s event was of a very high standard and PRAISE OWOEYE showed great form to finish 3rd out of 20 competitors with ALICE DALE showing an encouraging return to form after a lengthy illness in 6th place. JASMINE RICHARDSON performed well to finish 6th in the U13 girl’s competition.
In the weeks leading up to the Quadrathlon Stockport organised a series of four Triathletic Events, after which awards were made on the basis of an athlete’s best performances over a range of events similar to those in the Quadrathlon. Sale had two overall winners with SOPHIJA DRAGISIC-WOOD winning the U15 girls’ Triathlete competition and ELLA GILLESPIE the U12 girl’s event. HERMIONE MASON finished runner up in the U13 girl’s event with JASMINE RICHARDSON in 4th place. Our youngest competitor was IMOGEN HILL who showed impressive all-round ability to finish 3rd in the U9 girl’s event – a credit to her coaches at Crossford Bridge.
