Boggart Hole Clough Cross Country
Dave Rodgers and Peter Shaw
A well done to all those who braved the Boggart Hole Clough mud fest, Manchester CC League. Muddy races but in some parts the course was better than normal.
It was mainly Veterans leading the way for our women, with 340 or more starters. Emma Finney leading the way after Kathy Wellam lost a shoe and slipped out of the top 20, losing 10 places. Anne Chinoy finished strongly just behind Emma for 3rd L40. Clare McCarron 7th L40 made up the A Team. Helen Armitage 8th L40 leading the B team. Jackie Cordingley 2nd L55.
Sinead Ferguson and Sarah Goulden are making big improvements, and generally those who are still currently doing my Thursday track sessions are running strongly and improving.
University of Manchester won the team pushing us to 2nd in the league, but our B & C teams are still good as are the Veterans teams.
There were over 500 starters in the men's race which we dominated convincingly again, but with a healthy number of seniors as well as Vet's.
Leading A, B and C teams in the league, also the Vet's A Team, but B & C teams slip to 4th.
First Vet Gaz Raven finished strongly for 3rd; with James 's Wignall 6th, finishing close to each other in 11, 13th and 14th were Callum Rowlinson, Nathan Harrison and Nick Barry. Sam Aspinwall made up the A team.
Leading vets were Gaz, Steve McCarron 4th Vet, Duncan Hill & Richard Edwards. Glenn Savage was 3rd V55 and Mike Curley 3rd V65.
