ENGLAND ATHLETICS INDOOR COMBINED EVENTS CHAMPIONSHIPS
Well done to all who attended the England Athletics Combined Events Championships in Sheffield where RYAN Mc CAFFERY and his Sportcity multi-events colleagues had a great weekend.
Ryan, one of England’s top-ranked U20 multi-event athletes, claimed the U20 Heptathlon bronze medal in superb style, recording personal bests in six of the seven disciplines, with his overall heptathlon score of 4,876 also marking a new PB.
Adding to this success, Ryan and his coach, ALEX WORT were both selected for the second time to represent England. (Last summer both were also selected after Ryan became the England Athletics U20 Outdoor Decathlon Silver medallist with Alex appointed the England Lead Team Coach for an international in Belfast). Both will next represent England at an international in Sweden in February. Sale Harriers congratulates both of you!
Ryan is just one of the Sportcity based Venture Coaching Team at Sportcity led by ALEX WORT and ASHLEY PRITCHARD and Ryan wasn’t their only athlete with much to celebrate.
ALFIE CARTER competed in his first senior indoor combined event, surpassing his U20 points total from last year. He achieved personal bests in six of his seven disciplines, finishing with an impressive heptathlon score of 4,621 points.
ALFIE TRAVIS also competed in his first indoor heptathlon and made it a thoroughly positive debut, achieving PBs in most disciplines and recording an overall heptathlon score of 3,965 points.
SCARLETT WHITTAKER was adjusting to her new life of full-time employment. Despite her demanding life, also adjusting to a new coaching regime, she still produced encouraging performances that laid a promising foundation for her summer season.
