Wythenshawe Park Update.
Many of you are aware that the athletics track area of the park is to undergo significant redevelopment, including a new track, changing area and car park. This will result in the closure of the track for approximately a year. The current track car park will be closing in July, with a temporary one currently being created to ensure users can still access the track. The track will close at the beginning of October.
Obviously, sessions will need to be relocated, and it’ll be down to the respective coaches to facilitate.
Overall timeline of works:
- Temporary Car Park Works: June – October 2026
- Main Construction Works: October 2026 – September 2027
- Pavilion/track closure and pavilion demolition: October – November 2026
- 3G Pitch / MUGA / Athletics Track Works: September 2026 – June 2027
- Site Completion and Handover: September – October 2027. (Estimated).
- The track car park is open until October 2026.
Sportcity
The indoors arena at Sportcity is undergoing extensive refurbishment works as well, which will affect Sale Harriers in the coming months. Our popular indoor series is likely to be affected and details of our dates will be announced later.
