Sale Harriers finished runners-up to Liverpool and are now in 2nd place in the league after two matches.
JASON ADELAKUN was our star in the U16 boy’s events with three victories in sprint events. SAMUEL SAVAGE made his debut for Sale in match 1 and repeated his victories in the Shot & Discus and 2nd place over 300m Hurdles. Our other throwers – ISAAC WRIGLEY and JOSEPH CONNOLLY ensured we dominated the throwing events. DANIEL WELLS was a clear winner in the Long Jump, leaping over half a metre further than any of his competitors. NOAH PHILIPS and GEORGE HORSFALL both ran PB’s to finish runners up in middle distance events.
HOLLIE McHUGH was our star in the U16 events winning the 300m Hurdles and Pole Vault. BEA SOPER has set three new club records in recent weeks and, on the day before this match, won the Gt. Manchester Junior Run for the 3rd consecutive time. Bea, along with MADDY APPLEBY, CAITLIN WETTERS and GRACE HILL dominated in the middle distance events. EVE ANWYL was runner-up in the sprint hurdles event.
In the U14 Girls sprint relay, the Sale team of MIA WALSH, SERIAH PHILIPPS, ZIVA CHUKWU and SOLAE GOATER improved by two seconds from match 1. Solae was in tremendous form in the Long Jump, leaping almost one metre further than any of her competitors. Seriah finished runner-up in both sprint events in times that are outstanding for an athlete who has another year in this age group. EMMA JONES won the pole vault in her league debut in her event. LUCY O’BRIEN and IMOGEN MORAN both ran PB’s in middle distance events. ALICE HORSFALL took part in three throwing events, finishing runner-up in the Javelin.
In the U15 boy’s events ISAAC WALSH won the Hammer whilst ARTHUR O’HARE ran a PB to finish runner-up in the 1500m with CHARLES HODGSON winning the B event.
A big thanks to all who took part especially our officials who added the maximum 56 points to the overall score and team manager CARL WORTHINGTON who, yet again, solo managed the team to success.
