This was the final match of the NW Premier League and Sale finished 2nd overall to Liverpool which equalled last year’s result (which was the best result since prior to Covid-19 when we won three National and eleven Northern Titles.) Our strongest squad was the U16 girls whose sprinters won the relay and dominated the sprints and hurdles events. Well done to EVA ANWYL, ZARIEL SARUMI, AVA WALSH, NIELA CHUKWU and SOPHIE LOW. English Schools steeplechase champion BEA SOPER won two events and with excellent performances from CAITLIN WETTERS, GRACE HILL and BRIDGET FLYNN upheld our harrier tradition. Bridget also finished runner-up in the high jump and many of the girls mentioned scored valuable points in the field events.

In the U16 Boy’s events, JASON ADELAKUN, ISAAC WRIGLEY, SAMUAL SAVAGE and OLIVER HOWELL are to be commended for taking part in four events. Samuel won two events and with Isaac, recorded top ranked Level 9 performances in winning Shot Putt events. Jason was our only boy to record two Level 9 performances in his sprint events. NOAH PHILIPPS (1500m) and ADAM CORRY-WILSON (Hammer) were runner’s up in their events. ZIVA CHUKWU had a great day in the U14 Girl’s events taking part in four events and winning her 100m in a Level 9 performance.

SERIAH PHILIPPS was the only girl to record two Level 9 performances in finishing runner-up in the sprint events. LUCY O’BRIEN won the 1500m and with IMOGEN MORAN, CICELY COLDWELL and FLORENCE CONNOLLY scored excellent points in the middle distance events. MIA WALSH took part in four events including run, jump and throws. In the U14 boy’s events TRISTAN BURTON scored valuable points in four events whilst ISAAC WALSH competed in three throws, finishing runner-up in the Hammer. MAX MORRIS is to be congratulated on a Level 9 performance in the 200m. Many thanks to all who contributed to the club’s success, especially team manager CARL WORTHINGTON and our club officials who contributed so many points to our match totals.
